Tried and True projects

Here are 2 projects I tried for the first time, after seeing it a gazillion times made by other stampers. I have to say they were easy, very novice-friendly, and only used very few materials (meaning you don't need to have 4 stamp sets, a dozen inks, and more tools than your husband keeps in the garage).

The tote to the right is based on the tote bags featured in On Stage, a SU! publication, from eons ago. There are other versions too I've found online, and I made this one after watching a video tutorial ona fellow stamper's blog. The tote is rather sturdy due to the use of Double Sided Designer Series Paper. It holds 5.5"x4.25" cards and envelopes. Handy isn't it? You can decorate it as much as you want or as little as you want.

One 12"x12" DSP to make the "tote bag," strips of cardstock and ribbon for the handles, and then embellish with various pieces of stamped images or cardstock and brads.

This nifty little box is an Explosion box, aptly named after the way it opens up. The message inside is optional, but it's a nice surprise once the contents of the box are emptied out.

One 7.5" square cardstock for the bottom, One 4.5" square DSP for the lid, and a few other pieces of cardstock or stamped images to embellish.

2 things you need to make good 3-D projects (non-card projects) are: Paper cutter w/ scoring, and Sticky strip adhesive. You can still make do without, but for the best quality, these tools are a must.

CLEAN HOUSE

Does anybody watch the Style Network show "Clean House?" It's kind of like "Clean Sweep" on TLC (if you know that show) but with more comic characters. Anyway, I get into that mode when a new catalog comes along, and try to get rid of as many old stamp sets as I can possibly stand to do. So here are the poor cast outs... I hope I can find good homes for them...

A few updates

I have recently set up a calendar of events on my Yahoo account. You have access to it too! Just click on the link to the right (under my picture) that says "Calendar of Events" and it will take you right to it. I'll keep it up to date on SU! events I am involved in (some are personal workshops, and others are public camps or Stamp-a-Stacks), monthly promos, and catalog dates. With each item listed on a certain date, you will be able to click them for more information. Events will have details like time and location. Catalogs and promos will have a web address that will take you directly to the source of info on the SU! official website. This is also an excellent tool for you if you're considering doing a workshop, but want to time it with a promo or catalog. The calendar will show you my available dates as well (mostly free, so shouldn't be a problem anyways...).

Also, I wanted to post pics of the Christmas Stamp-a-Stack I took part in end of October. All pics of projects, not the event itself. I forgot my camera. I was so busy with our guests, I wouldn't have had any time to take pics anyway! So here they are. (Wait for it, wait for it...)
